Alex Tucker counsels clients on a wide range of intellectual property matters, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, IP transactions and licensing, and portfolio analysis and management. He also prepares infringement, patentability, invalidity, and freedom-to-operate opinions.
Working with numerous technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, including advances in neural network architectures, transformers, and generative AI, semiconductor devices and fabrication, including transistor architectures and photolithography, wireless communications and standards, medical devices, nanotechnology, and consumer electronics, Alex represents clients across an industry spectrum that includes computing, machine learning, manufacturing, petrochemicals, and telecommunications.
Alex’s previous experience includes serving as Patent Examiner for the US Patent and Trademark Office, where he advised practitioners regarding strategies for overcoming 101 (Alice) rejections. Prior to practicing law, Alex worked as a process engineer for Shaw Energy & Chemicals (formerly Stone & Webster), where he focused on petrochemical plant design including ethylene steam cracking furnaces (olefins), kinetics simulation and yield prediction, radiant and convective heat transfer systems, and mercaptan and acid gas removal (e.g., carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) removal from vapor streams).
